IADSA re-elects chair Peter Zambetti for second term

Peter Zambetti will hold the position of chair of the International Alliance of Dietary/Food Supplement Associations (IADSA) for a second term it was decided at IADSA’s Annual General Meeting this week.

Mr Zambetti, who is also Director of Global Business Development for Capsugel, was first elected chairman of IADSA in 2010.

He has extensive knowledge and experience of developments in the market and regulatory issues relating to dietary supplements, and a long history of involvement with a number of IADSA’s member associations, particularly the American Herbal Product Association and the United Natural Products Alliance in the US, and the Association of International Food and Nutrition (AIFN) in Japan.
 
“I am honoured to hold the position of Chair of IADSA for a second term,” said Mr Zambetti. “Having travelled extensively worldwide in support of dietary supplement business initiatives, I often see first-hand the impact that governmental regulations can have on the markets for these products. This insight and the drive to make positive changes serve as the primary foundation for work as Chair. I will continue to guide the organization to fulfill its commitment towards building an international platform for debate and a sound legislative and political environment for the development of the food supplement sector worldwide.”

Also at the Annual General Meeting, Ric Hobby, Chairman of the UK Council for Responsible Nutrition, was elected vice chairman and Michelle Stout from the US Council for Responsible Nutrition was elected treasurer.

IADSA is the leading international expert association regarding the globalisation of food supplement markets and regulatory challenges. It brings together more than 50 food supplement associations from six continents.

Since its formation in 1998 it has become a trusted source of information about regulatory and scientific developments in the world and the technical requirements of food supplement manufacture.

IADSA has regional and national regulatory programs in many parts of the world where food supplement regulation is being harmonised or modified.

It also has continuous scientific programmes to address the most relevant and challenging issues for policy makers, and technical programmes focused on continuing to build quality in manufacturing of supplements.
